After multiple knee surgeries, cofounder Yehua did a heel purge (to be written about later) and decided she was DONE with uncomfortable shoes. Which led us down the path of obsessing over finding fashionable orthotic shoes. The ugly sneaker craze notwithstanding (those are trends we generally steer away from), we wanted to find comfy sneakers that were representative of our classic and clean aesthetic. Favorites are below:
Historically, Naturalizer has not been known for being fashion-forward. But lately, we’re noticing that they are trying to elevate the style. Because we live and breath the cross section of beauty and function, it’s exciting to see other companies tackling comfort with style.
The Naturalizer Cyan is a subtle update to the classic slip ons that’s been popular for many seasons now. The zipper closure gives just the right amount of detail, and edge to an otherwise plain shoe.
Another shoe from Naturalizer, the Cyan is also a subtle update to the classic slip on. The wide exposed elastic detail adds detail while maintaining a sleek profile.
Vionic is known for being the most fashionable of all the orthotic shoe brands. These Cece Sneakers gives off classic Prada Sport vibes. We love the easy, slip-on style, and the on-trend high ankle. It’s a shoe great for pairing with pants that hit at the ankle, like the Vivis. Or, you can try rollin a straight leg, like the Bravi for a casual look. View our cuff guide here.
The name of this shoe may be a little confusing but we’re into it. Ecco’s ethos has always been about Form + Function, something we are obviously obsessed with. Plus the Danish ‘Hygge’ concept that the design world is completely embracing makes so much sense for footwear: comfort & joy. Velcro closures tend to be borderline pediatric or geriatric border, but here we have what we’re calling ‘Ann Demeulemeester lite’ – style made for everywhere, every day.
Chelsea boot sneakers are our current obsession, which the Taryn Rose Cecilia sneaker beautifully plays into. We’re a tiny bit conflicted with the brand’s floral and girlie vibes, but it’s under-the-radar in this particular shoe, so we’re into it.
